A strategic partnership between Gogoro and Zypp Electric in India will accelerate the transition to electric powered last mile delivery vehicles – The Companies plan to Launch a B2B Pilot Battery Swapping in Delhi in December 2022 that will enable Last Mile Delivery Fleets to Electrify via the Gogoro Network Battery Swapping platform, which has been proven to be reliable, safe, and reliable, as a battery swapping platform for over 350 million batteries.

There has been a strategic partnership between Gogoro Inc. (Nasdaq: GGR) and Zypp Electric, one of India’s leading EV-as-a-Service platforms, today for the purpose of developing battery swapping ecosystems that enable sustainable mobility solutions for cities. It is the goal of the companies to use battery swapping to accelerate the transition of logistics fleets and last mile deliveries across urban areas to electric.

A worldwide transformation of urban transportation and energy systems is taking place, with smarter, cleaner, and safer electric power benefiting India the greatest. “Gogoro, whose advanced battery swapping platform has performed more than 350 million battery swaps to date, is introducing its platform in India in order to build a new generation of electric two-wheeled vehicles that are safe, reliable, and proven,” said Horace Luke, founder, chairman, and CEO. A strategic partnership between us and Zypp Electric, one of the largest EV-as-a-Service platforms in India, is being announced today. With the help of Gogoro battery swapping, last mile delivery fleets will be able to begin adopting sustainable energy and transform their businesses for the future with this pilot project that will be conducted in Delhi.

Businesses can benefit greatly from the Gogoro ecosystem since it is safe, sustainable, proven and easily scalable. It is crucial to have a sustainable solution for last mile delivery fleets that not only provides an alternative to gas-powered vehicles but is also well suited to meet the specific demands of the delivery industry as a segment. By offering the most sophisticated two-wheel battery swapping system available, Gogoro allows delivery operators to manage fleets and deliveries in an efficient and sustainable way. The company expects to launch its B2B pilot project in December 2022 with Zypp Electric in Delhi to support last mile fulfillment, e-commerce, and hyperlocal deliveries in several fleet operators across India.

Gogoro Network

Founded in 2021, Gogoro’s ecosystem is built around the Gogoro Network, which is an open and interoperable battery swapping platform. In 2021, Guidehouse Insights recognized the Gogoro Network as the world’s leading battery swapping platform for urban vehicles that are lightweight. A new generation of swappable battery fueling is available through Gogoro Network, an innovative system that is safe and smart, and which is continuously being redesigned to make it dynamic and flexible for riders, businesses, and communities to take advantage of. The Gogoro Network has more than half a million riders, and more than 11,000 battery swapping GoStations have been installed at more than 2,240 locations, which results in more than 370,000 battery swaps per day and more than 350 million total battery swaps since December 2001.

A major concern for the world today is climate change and rising pollution levels, and many world leaders are taking bold measures to bring about a change with revolutionary measures, which perfectly align with the mission of Zypp Electric. Gogoro, a global electric vehicle company that is entering the Indian market with a like-minded approach, is a company we are very excited about partnering with. The Gogoro platform is proven on a large scale to be safe, easy to use, and easy to deploy in cities and open to all businesses, and Gogoro is the only global player with that state-of-the-art battery swapping platform in the world,” Akash Gupta, CEO and co-founder of Zypp Electric, commented. Throughout the nation we expect this partnership to set an example of how a network of battery swapping stations, electric vehicles, and EVs will work together to create a robust EV ecosystem that will go a long way to solving the last mile problem efficiently.

India Establishes New Two-wheel EV Standards

As part of its proactive approach to electric vehicle safety, the Indian government has proposed new standards and requirements for vehicles, batteries, charging systems, and battery swapping systems as part of its commitment to establishing a new standard for electric vehicle safety. As a result of these new standards, India will be able to keep up with global standards in terms of electric vehicles in the coming years.

The strategic initiative and partnership between Gogoro and Zypp today represents an important step in validating the proven leadership of Gogoro in the field of battery swapping, along with the opportunity to learn from local businesses and riders,” said Kaushik Burman, head of Gogoro’s development team in India. Founded by Gogoro, a founding member of the Indian Battery Swaping Association, we are working with multiple industry partners and regulatory authorities in order to contribute to the improvement of India through battery swapping. In order to secure all of the necessary certifications for its batteries and battery swapping stations, Gogoro has been working diligently to obtain them.”

Shoonya Zero-Pollution Mobility Campaign

Gogoro is supporting a public awareness campaign for “Shoonya — Zero-Pollution Mobility,” spearheaded by the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) and the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog), an Indian government think tank that deals with public policy. An electric vehicle campaign titled “Shoonya — Zero-Pollution Mobility” aims to promote the use of electric vehicles for urban deliveries and ride-hailing services. Shoonya, which means zero in Sanskrit, implies the emergence of possibility. The Shoonya campaign, derived from this connotation, intends to revolutionize the transportation sector by converting it to a zero-emission vehicle system in a radical and urgent manner. Three core components make up the campaign: 1) a corporate brand program, 2) an awareness campaign for consumers, and 3) a resource kit for electric vehicle owners.
