After watching her brother play at the Maharashtra state Under-16 tournaments, she made her mind to be a cricketer, and Shravan, her brother, still bowls her in the nets. Despite his brother’s involvement, she does not want to give up on her dream of becoming a cricketer.
As a young girl, Mandhana was selected by Maharashtra’s Under-15 team to play at district level when she was just nine years old.
The Maharashtra Under-19 Cricket team picked her up at just 11 years old to play for them when she was picked up by them in 2007.
She became one of the first two Indians to be signed up by Brisbane Heat for the then edition of the Women’s Big Bash League which took place in September 2016. This was her first year playing in the league, having been signed up for a team called Brisbane Heat.
