There are eight teams in this round and they have been broken down into two groups, A and B. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 12 round. These two groups are as follows:

It should not be hard for the Sri Lankan cricket team and the West Indies team to qualify for the Super 12 round as both teams have the advantage of playing in major tournaments and have the experience of participating in these tournaments.

There are also two groups of Super 12 teams, A and B. The two groups are as follows:
